Puma adalah genus di Felidae yang berisi cougar (juga dikenal sebagai puma, di antara nama-nama lainnya) dan jaguarundi, dan bisa juga menyertakan beberapa nama kurang dikenal yang berasal dari fosil Dunia Lama (misalnya, Puma pardoides, atau "macan kumbang Owen," suatu cougar besar seperti kucing dari Eurasia pada masa Pleistocene).[2][3]
